Almost nothing in figurative art rivals the work of German 20th century painter, draftsman and printmaker Käthe Kollwitz in emotional depth and poetic form.
If there is any earthly consolation in the horrors of war and personal tragedy, it is in the beauty of the human spirit that is transmitted through works like these.
